Lamp Makeover

A couple of weeks ago I found this lamp at a resale shop for $3. It did not have a shade and needed to be painted a lighter white. So I dragged it home and put two coats of flat antique white paint on it.

For the shade I used a wire Halloween pumpkin that I flipped over and draped a Shabby Chic style vintage linen over the top.

I am crazy about vintage linens and I love the look of them on lampshades!

I need one of those deelish faux cakes I see floating around blog world to put on my cake plate. Maybe if I get a faux cake I will not want to eat the real thing.

I am trying to lay off the sweets since summer is right around the corner. However, I will admit I am addicted to brownies right now, the pre packaged kind that you buy super cheap at Wal-Mart.

Today is my helper day at my daughters pre-school. I am looking forward to it! Little people do the funnies things.

Reaaranging Furniture

Yesterday, I rearranged my living room wall. I moved the sofa table behind the coach to the far wall and added light pink shutters to my shabby shutter shelf creation.

Next, I painted the inside of my faux fireplace white.

I found an antique table ($5) that flips up and down this weekend at a tag sale.

I painted it white and I would love to add a beautiful shabby floral applique to the center.

While I had the white paint out I shabbied the wall sconces. I am on the look out for a set of 4 matching shabby mini lamp shades to add to the top.

My husband works long hours. Yesterday, I saw him for about 20 minutes.

When I am home with the kids I play with them and paint in between housework. Rearranging and painting furniture helps me stay sane.

I snapped these pictures yesterday to see how everything looked. I was not planning to use them, but my excitement got the best of me.

I also wanted to share with you my dear mother in law has opened an etsy shop with beautiful hand painted Shabby Chic signs. She has an amazing God given talent her work is just gorgeous!

Paint a rusty wheelbarrow white

When I look at an old item, I see it painted white.

Our wheelbarrow has had a flat tire and been unused for over a year...

time to fluff it up with some white paint and plants!

I primed it and slapped some paint on my poor wheelbarrow.

(It got SHABBIED! Giggle)

I used a house plant in the center and then added some faux

purple and pink flowers around the house plant.

In the background I propped up an old window.

I like the looks of the shabby wheelbarrow versus the

old black rusty thing flipped over on a wood pile in our backyard.

It has made a home in our backyard next to my tiny shabby porch.

I need to take off the tire, but I'm going to wait and let my hubby help.

Soon there will be grass and hopefully real plants and flowers.

This is in my backyard, I don't live in a fancy neighborhood, so I can get away with "Romantic Country".

Tiny Romantic Porch

I have a tiny back porch out my bedroom door.

Even though it is small (as is most of my house) does not mean it can't be fabulous.

Last year I painted this tiny porch white.

Painting this tiny porch white gave it a fresh springy romantic feel, which I love!

I buy my outdoor Shabby pillows at thrift stores and

garage sales so if I forget to bring them in and they get wet I am only out $1 or so.

This weekend I got lucky and found these darling Shabby pink pillows at my favorite flea market half off which made them $3! (Happy Dance)

I used a bed skirt draped over a pole to add a bit of fluff and mystery behind the bench.

An easy faux garden chandelier is put together using an upside down planter.

I painted it a soft shabby green and used some Christmas beaded garland to give it a bit of sparkle.

A tray of chocolate cupcakes and rose china adds a cozy romantic touch.

The kids enjoyed the chocolate cupcakes and I had a blast setting it all up.
