Shabby Chic Kitchen!

I have truly been praying for God to plant the desire in me to be passionate about cooking!
Something is stirring in me and in my Shabby Kitchen!
Home Made Mashed Potatoes
Yes, I took the time to peel and boil the potatoes, then I added tons of butter, sour cream, milk and salt. Yummy!
(I think Home Made taters are so much healthier than McDonald's fries, plus it is fun to sit down together at the table)
I made these for Christmas dinner and there were no leftovers, imagine that!
My princess and I also whipped up some fabulous deserts using pudding and oreos!
The Recipe Book seems a bit intimidating to me.
I am learning that if I try it and mess it up or nobody likes it... I can try again with something else!
I am not sure why I have never really wanted to cook, it might take alot of money and a shrink to figure it out, but I believe God can change my heart about alot of things...right now it is cooking!
NOW, I of course WILL be decorating and painting things!!!!
My kitchen needs some cute pink accessories and I am dreaming of a rose cutting board.
For now I am thankful for the desire to create memories with my sweet family!
This is my view from my kitchen window...
My sweet n Shabby Kitchen
Wish me luck as I blunder through recipes!

  3. Hi Olivia! Your kitchen is so cozy and sweet! Let your creative juices flow and have fun whipping up some pretty meals for your fam! I go through phases where cooking seems like such a chore...I just dread it! But I try to mix it up and have fun now and then. I've even been known to serve my boys tea sandwiches as scones on delicate little tea plates for dinner! They look at me like I'm crazy...but it's fun for me and they are being fed, so they can't complain! Guess what? I have the exact same Simply Shabby Chic valance on my kitchen window! Kindred spirits I tell ya! Best Wishes, Amanda

  4. Hi Olivia,
I just love your shabby chic kitchen, it's very pretty and inviting. I love the blue cabinet...tres chic!!!

As for cooking, I'm not much of a cook myself, nor do I like to cook because I'm not very creative with food. I do like to bake sweets! LOL!

We just can't have it all, but I'm glad I am blessed with creative insight and artistic abilities.

hugs and I wish you well.

  5. Olivia, Your kitchen is beautiful!! I love homemade mash potatoes!! That is one of the few things I do cook. I am a horrible cook! I am 57 years old, so do you think it is too late for me to learn....LOL.
But that is my New Years resolution as well. I want to learn to cook wholesome meals that taste good, not this frozen artificial stuff that I often lean to in moments of rush.

  6. Hello Olivia! Your kitchen is gorgeous and that cabinet and esp. the color is stunning!
I don't like to cook either! I have my few standards and I can whip up some great Italian dishes, but that's about it. I have no interest in expanding either! LOL

Kudos to you for wanting to change! Let us know if you come up with any great new recipes!

    Happy New Year

  8. Olivia, I have not cook for the last 12 years and yes, I'm married. My husband does the grocery shopping too. I thank God for that, you don't know how much. I can not follow a recipe, I'm just not wire that way. I do not mind cleaning the kitchen after my tornado husband is done, and believe me he is MESSY. I love to decorate my kitchen though. Yours is so beautiful, it belongs in a shabby chic book or magazine. I think mash potatoes is a fantastic start. I think that I managed to mess that one up before. When I watched the movie Julia to Julia I felt like cooking...for an entire two seconds. Have a blessed day and happy cooking, Marta
